RUCookie

We stayed 4 nights at this property and wish we booked our stay for just a little longer. It was simply amazing. The resort opens up in glorious fashion. The grounds are well maintained, and full of color. The Hotel Lobby itself is a work of art marrying the outdoors with the interior - those giant windows fame the bay perfectly. That set the stage for the resort grounds that is designed for you to be outdoors... the sight lines showcase the shoreline. And even the interior pool is designed to blend into the natural surroundings and leads to you to the beach. The hotel overlooks a Manta Ray feeding ground... and you will see them. We saw them every night! While the viewing dock is at Ray's, you don't need to eat there to take advantage of the views. BUT you should! Ray's was yummy. Serving both casual and more upscale food options, there is something for all price ranges. It may be a more relaxed setting (you are in Hawaii), it is far from sloppy and casual. The ambiance can be romantic with live music, candle light, a beach breeze... it was lovely. During our stay, we tried the fish tacos, the burgers, a salad and a chocolate dessert! Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. We ate at both the bar and at a table - the service was no different - prompt, and energetic. The Resort has a more relaxed option for food - the pool bar. There we ate fish sandwiches, tacos, had drinks... again, service was prompt, polite and the food was delicious. If you are running around to enjoy the Big Island (like we were), you can take food on the run from the small market HoliHoli. They have drinks, snack foods, breakfast bagels and pastries, coffee, cut fruits, sandwiches, candy (plus medicine, alcohol, going out supplies). Let's talk rooms - my room was amazing. I will be honest and say that I was given a plush upgrade due to my SPG status. We had a suite overlooking the water. But things that would be consistent across the rooms... the beds were incredibly comfy, the rooms were spotless, housekeeping did an amazing job (I know I brought a lot of sand into the room from the beach, by accident). Check-in and Check out were fast, smooth and friendly... and we got a welcome lei of shells. While visiting, we used a rental to tour the island and the valet staff was incredible. We never waited more than 5 minutes for our car. The staff was incredibly helpful when we were leaving, making sure we knew our plan for the day and ALWAYS asked how things went when we returned. The few times we had quick turn-arounds, they kept our car handy and were ready when we returned. The car staff made our day, every day. We have ZERO complaints about this property. We have nothing but high praise for every resort member we met... and I have nothing but gratitude for Kori and what she did to make our stay magical.
